The supreme audit institutions of Estonia and Latvia are organising an international seminar on data and audit automation

TALLINN, 14 April 2026 – The Information Technology and the Municipality Audit Working Groups of EUROSAI – the umbrella organisation of European supreme audit institutions – are joining forces to host a virtual seminar aimed at exchanging experiences in data processing and audit automation in SAIs.

The seminar will be opened by Auditor General of Estonia Janar Holm and Member of the Council of the State Audit Office of Latvia Oskars Erdmanis.

In the guest presentations segment, Karl Annus from the Estonian Ministry of Regional Affairs and Agriculture will introduce the minuomavalitsus.ee project, while Terje Trasberg from Statistics Estonia will discuss how institutions can improve data collection.

A panel discussion will also take place on the challenges of automating audit processes, including an exploration of opportunities for applying existing automated solutions in auditing.

In the afternoon session, representatives from the Supreme Audit Institutions of Austria, Croatia, Egypt, Germany, Israel, Italy, Kuwait, Latvia, North Macedonia and Norway will share their experiences in automating data processing. Nearly 400 participants from Supreme Audit Institutions across different regions of the world have registered to attend the virtual event.

The seminar will be moderated by Alvar Nõuakas, Head of the EUROSAI Secretariat based at the National Audit Office of Estonia.

Since 2020, the National Audit Office of Estonia has chaired the EUROSAI IT Working Group. The State Audit Office of Latvia was appointed Chair of the EUROSAI Working Group on Municipality Audit in 2024.
