Auditor General Janar Holm will speak in a panel discussion on „The Role of Public Sector Audit in the Age of Artificial Intelligence“ moderated by Matanyahu Englman, State Comptroller of Israel and President of EUROSAI, the umbrella organisation of Supreme Audit Institutions in the European region. In his remarks, Mr Holm will emphasise the need to strike a balance between ambitions to deploy technology and the risks associated with it, without stifling innovation. The panel will also include Pascal Stirnimann, President of the Swiss Federal Audit Office.
Alvar Nõuakas, Head of the Secretariat of the EUROSAI IT Working Group based at the National Audit Office of Estonia, will present at the conference an international training course on auditing artificial intelligence currently under development within the working group, as well as the use of AI in the Estonian National Audit Office. The results of the EUROSAI parallel audit on artificial intelligence, in which the Estonian National Audit Office also participated, will also be presented.
Ahead of the conference, the heads of the supreme audit institutions of the United Arab Emirates and Estonia signed a Memorandum of Understanding to strengthen cooperation between the institutions in promoting innovation and the use of technology in auditing.
Since 2020, the National Audit Office of Estonia is chairing the EUROSAI IT Working Group which focuses on enhancing auditors’ competencies in the field of IT through experience sharing and training.
