Heads of European Union Supreme Audit Institutions discuss in Malta the EU competitiveness issues

TALLINN, 19 November 2025 – The delegation of the National Audit Office is taking part in the meeting of the Contact Committee of the Heads of the Supreme Audit Institutions of the European Union and the European Court of Auditors, held in Malta today and tomorrow.

The main theme of this year’s Contact Committee meeting is the strategic challenges to the European Union’s competitiveness, which will be examined from the perspective of public sector investments, industrial policy, energy security, the labour market, innovation, and digitalisation. Estonian Auditor General Mr Janar Holm will deliver a presentation on the audits of the National Audit Office on wind energy, security of electricity supply and the electricity system conducted in 2022–2023, which culminated in the 2023 annual report on the choices facing Estonia’s electricity system in the next decade. The Contact Committee will also present the work of its thematic activity networks and discuss other EU-related topics of shared interest to the members and the European Court of Auditors.

Alongside the Auditor General, Director of Audit Ms Ines Metsalu-Nurminen and Head of International Relations Ms Kaire Kesküla will also participate in the Contact Committee.
