Auditor General to speak to his colleagues of OECD countries on balancing innovation and prudence

TALLINN, 27 May 2026 – The National Audit Office of Estonia will participate in the Annual Meeting of OECD Auditors-General and Heads of Supreme Audit Institutions, as well as the “Restoring Public Finances” forum on public sector finances, taking place in Paris on 27–28 May and Auditor General Janar Holm will make his presentation on balancing innovation and prudence.

At the OECD forum, ministers, experts and representatives of international organisations will discuss how to address growing pressure on public finances, implement the necessary reforms, and increase public understanding of the need for long-term fiscal sustainability.

This year’s Annual Meeting of OECD Auditors-General and Heads of Supreme Audit Institutions will focus on increasing the impact of performance audits, balancing innovation and risk management in the public sector, auditing the use of artificial intelligence, and the effects of climate change and extreme weather events on public finances.

Auditor General Janar Holm will participate in a panel discussion together with Karen Hogan, Auditor General of Canada, Filipa Urbano Calvão, President of the Portuguese Court of Audit, Ewout Irrgang, Vice-President of the Netherlands Court of Audit, and Rebecca Sheeran, Chief Operating Officer of the UK National Audit Office. The discussion will focus on how to preserve the principles of transparency, accountability and good governance when introducing innovative solutions in the public sector.
