TALLINN, 24 January 2014 – On 22-23 January, the Auditor General Alar Karis and the Head of International Relations Service of the National Audit Office Tuuli Rasso attended the meeting of Heads of SAIs of Baltic and Nordic countries and Poland held in Stockholm.
The agenda items included: new trends in governance and their impact on auditing; issues related to accounting and reporting (incl. EPSAS) and implementation of ISSAI; participation in peer reviews; and other topics of interest. The discussions led to the conclusion that information on audit plans should be shared. Further, the participants agreed to hold future meetings of the Heads of SAIs of Baltic and Nordic countries and Poland in the framework of other events, e.g. the EUROSAI Congress or the meetings of the EU Contact Committee. Meetings between specialists will be held as necessary in the light of topics of common interest.
As from 2001, the Heads of SAIs of Baltic and Nordic countries have met on an annual basis. In 2004, the Polish SAI joined the cooperation network. From 2009 onwards, the meetings of Heads of SAIs and specialists have been held alternately every other year.
