Auditor General to attend INTOSAI conference

TALLINN, 22 November 2010 - Auditor General Mihkel Oviir will attend the 20th INTOSAI Congress held in the Republic of South Africa from 22 to 27 November 2010. 

The main subject of the Congress focuses on two topical themes: the Value and Benefits of Supreme Audit Institutions and Environmental Auditing and Sustainable Development.

The INTOSAI Working Group on Environmental Auditing is invited to attend the discussions on environmental auditing and sustainable development, in the course of which Director of the National Audit Office and Director General of the Secretariat of the Working Group on Environmental Auditing Tõnis Saar will be sharing the opinions of the working group on the development of environmental auditing.

Auditor General Mihkel Oviir is going to attend the meetings of the INTOSAI Governing Board and the Knowledge Sharing Committee within the scope of the Congress.

As usual, the Congress will hear summaries of the results achieved by INTOSAI and its committees, working groups and task forces in the last three years and set goals for the future. The INTOSAI strategy for 2011 to 2016 will be submitted for approval.

The National Audit Office as the Chair of the INTOSAI Working Group on Environmental Auditing will submit the Working Group’s Progress Report 2008-2010 and 2011-2013 Work Plan to the Congress. The Secretariat of the INTOSAI Working Group on Environmental Auditing is also going to introduce the documents and audit guidelines (nine documents in total) prepared in the last three years.
