Auditor General Janar Holm to attend the meeting of the IT Working Group of the European Organisation of Supreme Audit Institutions in Warsaw

TALLINN, 10 October 2023 – Today and tomorrow, on 10–11 October, the Auditor General Janar Holm will participate at the 16th meeting of the Information Technology Working Group (ITWG) of the European Organisation of Supreme Audit Institutions (EUROSAI) organised by the National Audit Office of Estonia in cooperation with the Supreme Audit Office of Poland in Warsaw.

The annual meeting of the IT Working Group will be opened by the Chairman of the ITWG Janar Holm and the President of the Supreme Audit Office of Poland Marian Banaś.

On the first day of the annual meeting, a seminar titled ‘Digital Sovereignty in a Cloudy Environment’ is held, where the audience will hear presentations by experts in the field from Germany, the USA, Poland, Ukraine, the Netherlands and Azerbaijan. Key note presentations are offered by Siim Vene from the Estonian Information and Communication Technology Centre and Sandra Särav from the Ministry of Economic Affairs and Communications. A panel discussion on the future of digital sovereignty enriches the day. The seminar is open for participation to all members of the working group as well as members of the International Organisation of Supreme Audit Institutions (INTOSAI).

On the second day of the meeting, on 11 October, the Information Technology Working Group (ITWG) members discuss the possibilities of finding cooperation opportunities in the development of IT competence of auditors. Cooperation partners from the Arab Organisation of Supreme Audit Institutions (ARABOSAI) and the International Organisation of Supreme Audit Institutions (INTOSAI) will also present their working programme and discuss possible synergies in the field of IT-related audits.

Nearly 50 members of the working group and approximately 150 virtual participants will join the annual meeting held in hybrid format.

Background information

The EUROSAI information technology working group ITWG was established in 2002 to enable European supreme audit institutions to share experiences and encourage the implementation of joint activities in the field of IT. The members of the working group are the supreme audit institutions of 43 states, and the main areas of activity include e-governance, increasing the competence of auditors, self-assessment of audit institutions in the field of IT, and cooperative audits. The National Audit Office has been the chair of the IT working group since the summer of 2020.
