Conference "Role of the State Audit Office in Implementation of Good Governance"

TALLINN, 12 June 2003 - The SAO, the Court of Auditors of the Netherlands, and a Dutch consultation company MDF are organising a Conference "Role of the State Audit Office in Implementation of Good Governance" on Friday, June 13. The Conference will complete a co-operation project, which has lasted for three and half years with the Dutch partners. The conference will focus on all three aspects of good governance: managing, reporting, and auditing.

The main purpose of this co-operation, which began in 2000, was assisting the SAO in going through the period of organisational improvements successfully. In addition to this, the Dutch partners have considerably contributed to the promotion of the European principles in public sector auditing.

The participants will be welcomed by Mihkel Oviir, Auditor General and Juhan Parts, Prime Minister; presentations will be made by Saskia J. Stuiveling, president of the Court of Auditors of the Netherlands, Urmas Reinsalu, Chairman of the Constitutional Committee of the Parliament, Tõnis Palts, Minister of Finance, Joanna M. van Vliet, Ambassador of the Kingdom of the Netherlands, and other presenters from the SAO, the Ministry of Finance, and the European Court of Auditors.
