TALLINN, 4 December 2018 – The six-member delegation of the Accounts Committee for Control over Execution of the Republican Budget of Kazakhstan (the equivalent of the Estonian National Audit Office), led by the Chairwoman of the Accounts Committee Natalya Godunova, is visiting the National Audit Office from 4 to 6 December.
The head of the supreme audit institution of Kazakhstan arrived in Estonia for the presentation ceremony of the international peer review carried out by the National Audit Office in the Accounts Committee of Kazakhstan. The ceremony was attended by the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Kazakhstan to Finland and Estonia Murat Nurtleuov and the Consul of Kazakhstan to Estonia Dudar Zhakenov. Opportunities for further cooperation were discussed with the Auditor General Janar Holm. The Chairwoman of the Accounts Committee of Kazakhstan Natalya Godunova invited the Estonian Auditor General of Estonia to visit Astana and Janar Holm gratefully accepted the invitation. The parties discussed the cooperation of the supreme audit institutions of Estonia and Kazakhstan in the area of methodology of environmental audits. The Estonian National Audit Office has long-term and international experience in the area of environmental audits – the National Audit Office is the Chair of the Working Group on Environmental Auditing of EUROSAI, the European umbrella organisation of supreme audit institutions.
The Kazakhstan delegation will take a closer look at the work of the National Audit Office in the areas of financial, compliance and performance audits, meet with the members of the State Budget Control Select Committee of the Riigikogu and visit the e-Governance Academy and the e-Estonia Showroom.
The cooperation between the supreme audit institutions of Estonia and Kazakhstan is based on the agreement that was signed on 9 December 2016 at the XXII INTOSAI Congress in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates. Cooperation between the National Audit Office and the Accounts Committee of Kazakhstan was expanded with the agreement. Earlier communication focused primarily on the exchange of experience in financial auditing, but in relation to the new auditing authorisations, the Kazakhstan side also expected advice and training in the area of performance audits from Estonia.
