TALLINN, 6 December 2017 – Auditor General Alar Karis attends the event dedicated to the 40th anniversary of the Lima Declaration on 5 and 6 December in Lima.
The Lima Declaration was adopted in 1977 at the IX International INTOSAI Congress in Lima. It has become the underlying document of the activities of supreme audit institutions that stipulates the principles of public sector auditing. Independence that is one of the most important preconditions of the functioning of supreme audit institutions.
The anniversary event will include an overview of the history of the Lima Declaration, a presentation of the results of the peer review of the independence of supreme audit institutions, a discussion of the challenges related to maintaining independence and the connection between the present strategic goals of the INTOSAI, sustainable development and the Lima Declaration. The international anti-corruption conference will also be held in the scope of the event.
In addition to the representatives of supreme audit institutions, the conference will be attended by the representatives of several international institutions, including the World Bank.
Advisor at the Development and Administration Service Krislin Kivi will also attend the event dedicated to the 40th anniversary of the Lima Declaration.
