TALLINN, 16 November 2025 – Auditor General of Estonia Mr Janar Holm participated as a keynote speaker at the annual symposium of the General Court of Audit (GCA) of Saudi Arabia which is dedicated to the role of auditing in the public sector.
The symposium “The Role of Auditing in Enhancing the Efficiency and Effectiveness of the Public Sector” took place in the capital of Saudi Arabia, Ar-Riyād and continues the GCA’s two-decade long tradition of bringing together local and international experts to discuss developments and challenges in audit methodology.
In the symposium’s panel discussion, the Auditor General presented the Estonian example of how a supreme audit institution which is part of a strong e-state and data ecosystem can contribute to the development of the latter and to society more broadly, as well as help citizens be more demanding of public governance. Other guest participants of the Symposium included Ms Helga Berger, member of the European Court of Auditors (Austria); Ms Claudia Migotto, Deputy Auditor General of New South Wales, Australia; experts from the International Monetary Fund and the OECD; and representatives of the General Court of Audit and the recently established Saudi Arabia National Center for Public Sector Performance Measurement.
