The NAO of Estonia to participate at the Congress of European Organisation of Supreme Audit Institutions

TALLINN, 28 May 2024 – Today Auditor General Janar Holm and the delegation of National Audit Office of Estonia attend the XII Congress of the European Organisation of Supreme Audit Institutions (EUROSAI) organised by the State Comptroller and Ombudsman of Israel, which takes place as a video conference.

Auditor General Janar Holm gave a presentation at the Congress on the results of the work of the EUROSAI IT Working Group (ITWG) during 2020-2024 as well as the new work plan for 2024-2027 which has been presented for the approval of the XII Congress.

The National Audit Office of Estonia has been the chair of the IT working group since 2020. The main activities of ITWG include organising interactive hybrid-format meetings, developing IT and IT audit e-training products and encouraging ongoing knowledge exchange between its 44 European member-SAIs. Additionally, various tools on IT and IT-audit related self-assessments as well as for the use of public sector IT audit practitioners have been developed over the years by the ITWG.

The EUROSAI Congress is organised in every three years with an aim to discuss cooperation projects part of the EUROSAI operational plan, focused primarily on exchanging experiences and increasing the capacity of audit institutions. Strategic issues of EUROSAI as an institution are also included in the agenda of the Congress. The congress was initially planned to take place in Israel but due to the military conflict between Israel and Hamas, the XII EUROSAI Congress is held online and organized and hosted by the SAI of Israel which takes over the presidency of EUROSAI.
