TALLINN, 16th August 2023 – Auditor General Janar Holm participates in the commemoration of the Latvian State Audit Office's remarkable 100-year milestone today, Wednesday, 16th August. The event takes place in Riga, Latvia.
The centennial celebratory conference, titled "Audit Strenght," unfolds at the National Library of Latvia and initiates with an engaging discourse among auditors-general from diverse nations. Their discussions revolve around the pivotal theme of engaging stakeholders at various stages of auditing. Guests include former Latvian President, Vaira Vīķe-Freiberga, alongside distinguished speakers from the Latvian Constitutional Court and the University of Latvia. Together, they reminisce about the institution's century-long journey.
In addition to the National Audit Office of Estonia, representatives from the Supreme Audit Institutions of the Czech Republic, Israel, Lithuania and Poland are set to take part, they are board members of EUROSAI, the Association of Supreme Audit Institutions of Europe, in addition to them the SAIs of Georgia and Moldova participate.
During this momentous event, Auditor General Janar Holm has presented Latvian Auditor General Rolands Irklis with a historical photograph capturing the Estonian armoured train "Kalev," taken at the Riga railway station in October 1919. This gesture underscores Estonia's unwavering support for its Latvian friends, mirroring the steadfast friendship that has endured for over a century.
