TALLINN, 15 July 2019 – The delegation of the supreme audit institution of China, which is led by Chief Inspector and Deputy Auditor General Mrs Song Yijia, is on a working visit to Estonia.

Issues of mutual interest and cooperation opportunities will be discussed at the meeting with Auditor General Janar Holm. The visit focuses on the use of big data in auditing and the ethics of auditors. The ways in which supreme audit institutions can contribute to the development of digital society will be discussed among others. The topic of environmental audits will also be approached, as the Estonian National Audit Office has been heading the EUROSAI Working Group on Environmental Auditing since 2014.

From 2007 to 2013 the Estonian National Audit Office cooperated constructively with the Chinese National Audit Office in the areas of environmental auditing and the relevant methodology in the Working Group on Environmental Auditing of INTOSAI, i.e. the International Organisation of Supreme Audit Institutions, which operates under the auspices of the UN. The National Audit Office of the People’s Republic of China was then a member of the leadership committee of the working group and heading the activities of the Working Group on Environmental Auditing of the Asian organisation ASOSAI.

The delegation of the Chinese National Audit Office will also have a meeting with the Deputy Chairman of the Foreign Affairs Committee of the Riigikogu Marko Mihkelson. The delegation will visit the e-Estonia Briefing Centre as well.

The Chinese delegation visited the Finnish and Polish national audit offices before its arrival in Estonia.
