Auditor General to attend a meeting of the Liaison Committee of the Heads of Supreme Audit Institutions of the European Union

TALLINN, 6 December 2004 - Mihkel Oviir, Auditor General, Tõnis Saar, Director of the State Audit Office, and Rein Söörd, Head of the Service of Foreign Relations will participate in the annual meeting of the Heads of Supreme Audit Institutions of the European Union in Luxembourg from December 6 to 7, 2004.

There are several relevant mutual co-operation issues to be discussed, including:

  • existing co-operation between the supreme audit institutions of the Member States and European Court of Auditors, its promotion and better notification of the public about the results;
  • preparation of EU financial management reports in Member States;
  • reports of working groups related to the auditing of Structural Funds, public procurement, value added tax and other sectors and further plans;
  • developing relations with the supreme audit institutions of EU candidate states, audit co-operation.
  • audit of the agricultural sector, ensuring of audit quality, training, and internal control will also be discussed and overviews will be presented on the practice of different countries related to the discussed topics.


The Auditor General will present the results of the audit of PHARE projects aimed at developing the Estonian economy.
