Auditor General Alar Karis attends the working meeting of INTOSAI Development Initiative in Vienna

TALLINN, 14 March 2016 – Auditor General Alar Karis will be attending the working meeting of the Development Initiative (IDI) of the International Organisation of Supreme Audit Institutions (INTOSAI), which will be held from 14 to 16 March 2016 in Vienna and focus on the programme for auditing sustainable development. Representatives of the INTOSAI, the World Bank, the UN and several supreme audit institutions are involved in the development of the programme. As the head of the EUROSAI Working Group on Environmental Auditing (WGEA), Alar Karis will be representing the environmental auditors of the European public sector at the meeting.

The goal of the IDI programme is to encourage supreme audit institutions to audit the achievement of objectives related to sustainable development and participate in respective joint audits. Guidelines for public sector auditors on how to audit the objectives of sustainable developments will be ready by the end of 2016.

Head of International Relations and Secretariat of EUROSAI WGEA Tuuli Rasso from the National Audit Office will also be attending the meeting.
