TALLINN, 13 March 2006 - The Auditor General, Mihkel Oviir, the Director of the NAO, Tõnis Saar, and the Head of International Relations Service, Rein Söörd, will attend the opening meeting of the INTOSAI Capacity Building Committee taking place in London on March 13-14.
This Committee was set up under the INTOSAI Strategy 2005-2010 and it is chaired by the President of the National Audit Office of Morocco, who invited the NAO to participate.
The opening meeting will lay down the rules of procedure and the allocation of responsibilities within the Committee. Three thematic sub-committees will be set up:
1) Sub-Committee 1: promote increased capacity building activities among INTOSAI members;
2) Sub-Committee 2: develop advisory and consultant services;
3) Sub-Committee 3: promote best practices and quality assurance through voluntary peer reviews.
At the meeting, the sub-committees will set the activity priorities and objectives and establish the initial working plan until the XIX INTOSAI Congress in Mexico in 2007, and discuss the aspects of its implementation.
