The 14th Meeting of the European Organisation of Supreme Audit Institutions (EUROSAI) IT Working Group will take place today and tomorrow, on 9-10 November 2021. November 9th is reserved for a seminar “Brace for impact – SAIs pinpointing cyber-risks” accessible to all members of the International Organisation of Supreme Audit Institutions (INTOSAI).
Cybersecurity has been chosen for the main topic of the seminar in response to the ITWG members’ preferences and is also relevant globally, as many aspects of our life and work have to a significant extent moved into the cyberspace.
Auditor General of Estonia Janar Holm will open the seminar and the entire ITWG 14th meeting with a welcoming address. The SAIs of Germany, Slovenia and Switzerland will present their office’s experiences in auditing different cyber security aspects and keynote speakers Juhan Lepassaar from the European Union Agency for Cybersecurity, Tõnu Tammer from the CERT-EE in Estonian Information System Authority as well as Dr Harald Niggemann from the German Federal Office of Information Security will contribute with their insights. A panel discussion about modern approach to cyber security auditing will be moderated by the Head of ITWG Secretariat Alvar Nõuakas. In cooperation with an Estonian cybersecurity company CybExer Technologies, an interactive mind-mapping exercise will also be arranged offering participants a practical chance to reflect on state response to cyber threats.
November 10th is planned for the IT Working Group Business Meeting and is reserved for ITWG members and invited guests only. At the ITWG Business Meeting, progress of ITWG projects will be introduced and members will have a chance to share their ongoing work and brainstorm on future cooperation formats. There will also be presentations by different ITWG partners from INTOSAI.
The 14th Annual Meeting of the ITWG will be held in a hybrid format and representatives of close to 80 Supreme Audit Institutions from all over the world have registered to participate, mainly virtually.
Background
EUROSAI Information Technology Working Group ITWG was created in 2002, to enable the European Supreme Audit Institutions to share IT-related experiences and to boost cooperation in this field. ITWG brings together SAIs from 41 different countries and the main fields of activity are e-governance, standardization of IT-auditing, self-assessment in the area of IT within institutions and promoting joint audits. National Audit Office of Estonia is the current Chair of ITWG from the summer of 2020.
