TALLINN, 28 June 2021 –The 25th United Nations/International Organization of Supreme Audit Institutions (INTOSAI) Symposium dedicated to the work of supreme audit institutions in the conditions of a global health crisis will take place on 28–30 June 2021. The Symposium will address, on the one hand, the impact of the pandemic on the organisation of the work of the SAIs and, on the other hand, the auditing of public measures and recovery plans implemented for the fight against Covid-19.

Auditor General Janar Holm will make a leading statement in the session dedicated to innovative approaches to auditing crisis measures where the Heads of the SAIs of Germany, United Arab Emirates, South Africa and Chile are also scheduled to speak. In his address, the Auditor General will focus on how the work of the SAIs has become more flexible amidst the crisis, enabled by increased digitalisation and developments in data analytics, something that can also be seen in recent reports published by the National Audit Office of Estonia.

UN/INTOSAI symposia have taken place since 1971 with an aim to encourage knowledge exchange and discussion on global challenges between SAIs from developed and developing countries and in collaboration with the thematic units of the UN.
