Detection of social problems among the elderly, and prevention of intensification thereof by local governments
The audit analyses the practical organisation of preventive work related to the detection and prevention of social problems among the elderly by local governments and, as part of the analysis, assesses the compliance of the notification activities aimed at the elderly with the principles arising from the law. The efficiency of the activities of the Ministry of Social Affairs so far in influencing the activity of the prevention work in local governments is also assessed.
The aim of the audit is to point out the problems in preventive work and their causes and to offer solutions on how to increase the activity of local governments in detecting and preventing social problems among the elderly. In addition, an overview is provided of how local governments have acted in the provision of assistance to the elderly in the COVID-19 crisis.
The audit is looking for responses to the following questions:
1. How is the detection and prevention of social problems among the elderly organised by local governments?
2. Have local governments organised the notification of the elderly about the possibilities of receiving social assistance?
3. Have the activities of the Ministry of Social Affairs been efficient in ensuring the activity of local governments in noticing and preventing the social problems of the elderly?
