Discovery of malignant tumours and referral of patient to treatment

The purpose of the audit is to assess whether:
1) the organisation of cancer prevention and early detection allows the timely detection of the tumour; and
2) cancer treatment has been started on time, i.e. without undue delay.

The audit is looking for responses to the following questions:
• Is the screening for malignant tumours conducted in a way that facilitates the timely arrival of at-risk groups for check-ups?
• Is cancer discovered at the right time when a doctor is seen?
• Is the beginning of treatment timely when cancer is discovered?
• Does funding of the field provide patients with the necessary cancer treatment and cover the cost of the screenings?

The focus of the audit is on the patient’s treatment path from screening to the beginning of active treatment.
