TALLINN, 21 June 2014 – On June 16-20, the National Audit Office's (NAO) delegation composed on Auditor General Alar Karis, Head of Financial Audit Department Ines Metsalu, Head of International Relations Service Tuuli Rasso, and Audit Manager Liisi Uder and Auditor Thea Teinemaa from the Financial Audit Department attended EUROSAI IX Congress in the Hague.
The central topic of the Congress was innovation and the work was carried out in an unconventional form - parallel discussion sessions. Auditor General Alar Karis led a discussion focused on identifying good practices in the field of communication, and Ines Metsalu held a seminar on paperless audit. At three sessions, the representatives of departments spoke about experience gained in their respective fields. The three-year period of the EUROSAI auditor ended with an audit of EUROSAI's accounts 2013, and at the Congress the NAO passed on the baton to the next auditor. At the Congress, the NAO took over the chairing of the EUROSAI Working Group on Environmental Auditing from the Norwegian SAI. Preparations to that end commenced in January, the secretariat started work in March, and in autumn the Lithuanian SAI hosted the annual meeting of the Working Group.
