NAO delegation to attend WGEA meeting in China

TALLINN, 7 June 2010 - The delegation of the National Audit Office (NAO) led by Mihkel Oviir - Auditor General and Chair of the INTOSAI Working Group on Environmental Auditing (WGEA) - will attend the 13th meeting of WGEA held in Guilin in the People’s Republic of China on 7 to 11 June.

The meeting will summarise the work period 2008-2010 which focused on climate change audit. Also, the discussion on environmental audit guidelines (climate change, sustainable energy, mining, forestry and fishery) will be brought to conclusion. These documents as well as the study on the current status of environmental accounting are intended to be approved at the meeting and submitted to the XX INTOSAI Congress. An overview of the 6th Survey on Environmental Auditing will be presented, as will be the reports on the activities of regional working groups and the progress report of the Chair of WGEA. Wednesday focuses on climate change – the results of the global and EUROSAI audits on climate change will be presented. One of the essential topics will be the work plan for the next period (2011-2013) and its approval for submission to the INTOSAI Congress.
